The way people communicate

Over some time and thought, I have decided that the way we communicate with each other these days is inexcusable and ridiculous!

We live in a generation of technology and we have used that as a means of avoid straight and verbal communication with our peers. Which ultimately leads of confusion, to personal feelings or even trust. We have tried our hardest to live each and every situation without confrontation. Why though? Why do we run away from scary situations instead of face them head on and actually accomplish something.

For instance, right now I have a couple of friends who live together and take the same course at school. They spend majority of their time together unless the one girl is with her boyfriend. From this sparks jealousy, confusion, frustrations and loneliness which ultimately drives a riff between their friendship. Now, watching how they deal with this situation is absolutely fascinating to me. Neither one will actually say anything about the situation to their face. It's either feelings are being typed out (live journal) or they are just kept inside and actions take over (anger, snarky comments, evil glares).

As a friend I feel I am entitled to provide some sort of advice to help them through this but of course neither want to take the advice and accomplish a solution to this situation. The fear of face to face interaction has now become so overwhelming that it could very well end the friendship.

I can't quite understand how it got this bad and why people are so afraid to explain their feelings upfront and face to face, but I know we are all guilty of it. I wish things didn't get this hard. I wish we didn't rely on texting, facebook, twitter, etc as a means of making uncomfortable situations easier on ourselves.
